What I Love about Caleb at 10 months old

I can't believe he's already 10 months old.

At his doctor appointment this morning the doctor said, "Well, the next time we see him he'll be 1" and I just thought, good grief how can he already be almost 1??

His appointment went well, he didn't even have to get any shots this time, and he now weighs in at 21 pounds and is 29 inches tall.  He still uses his infant carrier carseat (although we just leave it in the car because it's so heavy) because it goes up to 30 pounds and 30 inches.  I'm hoping he can use it until he turns one, that way we can just buy a forward facing carseat for him, instead of a convertible seat that can face forwards or backwards.  And the weight isn't a issue, unless he just really packs on the pounds there's no way he'll come even close to 30 pounds before he's 1, but he's 29 inches, so hopefully he won't have a major growth spurt in the next 2 months, because I would hate to buy a convertible seat for him to use for a month before we can turn it around to face the front.  Anyways ...

Here's what I love about Caleb at 10 months old:

* He is always on the move.  If he's not crawling, he pulling up, and if he's not pulling up he's cruising around the furniture.

* He does this fake cough, which all started with his Uncle David, and he thinks it is so funny.  He uses it when he wants your attention, and then when you cough back at him, he scrunches his little face up and gets a huge smile on his face.  He thinks he is really funny.

* He is sleeping great.  Still sleeps until 8am, which I just love since I am so not a morning person.

* He still takes 2 naps a day.  Sometimes I wish he would cut back to 1 nap because we'd be able to get out more, but he needs his sleep, and it's nice to be able to get things done around the house.

* He claps his hands when you ask him to, and likes the song "If Your Happy and You Know It".

* He waves, and says bye bye (sometimes).

* He is officially done with baby food.  He now eats finger foods and whatever we are eating.

* He loves Avery (our dog) and if you say, "Caleb, where's Avery?" he will either look at or crawl to the back door where Avery is usually laying.

* He loves his daddy, and gets excited when he gets home from work.

* He is becoming more strong willed and will let you know when he is mad about something (not sure this fits in with the "things I love" list, but oh well)

* He is such a happy boy, and almost always smiling.

Caleb,
My sweet, sweet boy.  I love you so much, and I thank God for you every day.  You are getting so big and before I know it you will be 1 and the first year of your life will be complete.  It is a joy to be your mother, and I love being able to stay home and play with you every day.  You are growing so fast, it seems like just yesterday you were a tiny little baby, and now you are almost a toddler.  I'm so thankful that you are such a good, kind, sweet little boy.  You mean the world to me.  I love you,
                                                                                                                     Mama

What I love about Caleb at 9 months old

I'm 2 days late on this post, but better late than never.

Caleb is now 9 months old, can you believe it? I can just feel his first birthday getting closer and closer. Charles and I have been making some plans for this summer and it is so strange to think that Caleb will already be one. The past 9 months have flown by so much faster than the previous 9 months. I remember feeling like time was standing still when we were counting down the days until we'd get to meet Caleb, and now time is going by much to quickly. Before I know it, he'll be 5 or 10 or 15. Wow, don't want to think about that.

And while time has sped past, I have loved every minute of the last 9 months. Ok ... maybe not every single minute, but most.

And these are the things I love about Caleb at 9 months old.

*He's definitely what you'd call mobile (has been for awhile) but it was just in the past few weeks that he figured out how to go from lying down to sitting up and sitting up to lying down. So now, no matter how I put him on the ground, he's on the move ... and let me just say ... he is so fast. It's much more tiring, chasing him around all day, but I love watching him explore new things.

*He is now pulling himself to a stand! On anything and everything. Furniture, toys, highchair, people ... pretty much anything that is higher up than him, which is pretty much everything. He's just one step closer to walking. I have a feeling that will happen before his first birthday.

*We are pretty much done completely with baby food. Which makes it much easier for us to eat meals together as a family, which is fun.

*He has said his first word!! although to be honest, I'm not sure it's intentional. He says, ba-ba-ba-ba-ba alot, like all the time. And recently, if we wave and tell him to say bye-bye he will sometimes wave and say ba-ba. That kind of sounds like bye-bye right? Just humor me :)

*He still loves books, but has recently started preferring some books over others. There have always been books that I think he likes better than others, but now, if I start reading a book and he doesn't want to hear it, he will reach up and close it. It is so cute!! And I'm just like, "Ok you don't want this one" and I grab another book and he'll sit there and listen without touching it at all.

I love that we get to spend our days together and that he's getting big enough to do more. He has a swing in the tree out front that he loves. He loves going on walks, and playing with his toys. He thinks he's such a big boy when I go into his room to get him and he's just standing there in his crib, watching the door. I walk in and he gets this look on his face, and I can just hear him thinking, " Can you believe this? Look how tall I am?"

My sweet boy,
You are getting so big and learning so many new things right now. Before long you'll be toddling around the house. It makes me happy to see you growing so healthy and strong. I'm so happy that God gave you to me and that I get to be your mama. I love you baby.

What I Love About Caleb at 8 Months Old

Once again, I can hardly believe how fast he is growing up.

We went to the doctor this morning, and everything is still great. He weighs in at 19 lbs 15 oz, and he's 27.5 inches long. He only had to get two shots and he barely cried at all. Just for a few seconds after each one.

And now on to more important things... what I love about Caleb at 8 months old. There are SO many things that I love, I almost don't know where to begin, but let me say this. This is the funnest (is that a word??) age so far. He is an absolute joy to be around.

*I love that he is on the move. While it makes my days much busier, it is so fun to see him crawling all over the place. And yes, he is still doing the army crawl, and he's quite fast at it.

*He is such a happy boy. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before, but he is just so friendly, and smiles at everyone he meets (well almost... I won't mention any names... it's something we're working on).

*He has become a Mama's boy, and yes I love it. He loves his Mama, wants to be in the same room as me, and preferably have me holding or playing with him. I have to leave the room when he has his "playpen" time because if he sees me, he cries because I'm not in the playpen with him.

*He is a finger food champ. He would much rather have finger foods than baby food, which I love because it makes meal times much easier for me. He thinks he's such a big boy.

*He still loves books and being read to.

*He plays ball with daddy, and actually tries really hard to roll the ball back to daddy after he gets it, and sometimes he even succeeds.

*He is a singer. It's not actual singing, but he thinks it is and it is so cute.

*He's gotten a little bashful. He still smiles at strangers, but only while burying his head in my shoulder.

I'm sure there are many more things I love because really, I love everything about this kid, but it's getting late, so I'll stop here.

Caleb,
You're getting so big and it makes me happy and sad at the same time. You won't be my tiny baby much longer, but I'm looking forward to your days as a little boy. I love spending all my days with you, and can't think of anything I'd rather be doing. Your smiles make me so happy. I love you so much, my sweet boy.

Mama

And now I'll leave you with a few pictures of one of Caleb's favorite activities these days ...

7 months old

My sweet little guy is 7 months old today. It's amazing. I know I've said this many times before, but times goes by so quickly. He's growing up so fast.

There are so many things I love and want to remember about Caleb at 7 months old, but I'll just share a few of them here.

* He is mobile. He does this little army crawl thing, where he just scoots around on his tummy, but it gets him where he wants to go. And in the last few days he gets up on his hands and knees, but hasn't figured out how to coordinate any movement from there.

* He is still so happy. He hardly ever fusses and smiles all the time.

* It's easy to get a laugh out of him these days, whereas we used to try and try to get him to laugh, now he laughs at all kinds of things.

* He is finally, consistently (he's been doing it off and on for months) sleeping through the night. Which means more sleep for mama.

* He plays very well by himself, which is nice when I need to get things done around the house.

* He still talks all the time, and is very vocal.

* He still snuggles when he's sleepy, which I love.

* He loves his bunny, and sleeps with it every night.

This list could go on and on, but suffice it to say, he is the cutest thing in the world.

Little Man,
7 months ago today we met you for the first time, and we love you more and more every day. I love being your mama and there is nothing else I'd rather be. I love you sweet boy!

6 months old

My sweet boy,
I can hardly believe it has been a whole six months since God blessed us with you. Your daddy and I love you more than words can say, and we are so proud of the little boy you are becoming. You are certainly the happiest little guy I've ever seen, smiling at everyone you meet with that big grin of yours. You bring a smile to my face every time I see it.

I love the way you get so excited over the simplest things, squealing and kicking your chubby little legs. Your energy astounds me. If given the choice you would roll and scoot around the floor all day, discovering new things to play with and put in your mouth. Gone are the days of laying you on a blanket and entertaining you by dangling toys above your head, how quickly they passed.

Then there are the calm, peaceful times just before you drift off to sleep. We rock in our chair, listening to your lullaby pillow, and you gaze at my face before closing those blue eyes and falling asleep. As I lay you in your crib I am amazed at how big you've gotten. You are no longer the little 8 pound newborn we brought home from the hospital, but a little boy, full of personality and life. 6 months have passed, all too quickly, but I can't wait for the months to come, watching you grow and learn. You are such a blessing to us, and I can't imagine my life without you, my sweet boy.

I love you,
Mama

Happy 5 months sweet boy!

Our little man is 5 months old today. We have loved every minute of the past 5 months (well maybe not every minute) and can't believe how quickly it has gone. There are lots of things that I love about Caleb at 5 months old, but I'll just give you a few.

* He is so happy. If he's awake, there's a good chance that he's smiling. I don't know if I've ever met a happier baby.

* He has finally mastered rolling, in both directions. So there is no more going into his room to put him back on his tummy to sleep.

* He gets excited to see Mama and Daddy, which is just super cute.

* He's still very cuddly and likes falling asleep in my arms, although I try not to let him too often.

* He has the cutest little voice, and "talks" all the time.

* He's getting more active, and doesn't stay still for long.

* He plays very well by himself, which I hope continues.

* He is almost too big for his bouncy seat (he stretches his legs and leans back, and I'm afraid he's going to tip it backwards) but he loves his new activity bouncer.

* He chews on EVERYTHING, (hands, pacifiers, toys, blankets, and anything else he can get in his mouth) but no teeth yet. I think they're coming soon.

* He loves reading books and singing songs. We do alot of singing around here. His favorite songs are Jesus Loves Me, The Wheels on the Bus, and My Girl (which has been changed (by me) to My Guy)

* He is sleeping better at night. He kind of backtracked for awhile, but he's been sleeping about 9 hours the last few nights.

* He's just adorable.

Caleb,
I am so happy to be your Mama and have loved watching you grow the last 5 months. It makes me so happy to watch you smile and play and learn new things. I love you more than you'll ever know. Mama

What I love about Caleb at 4 months old

Caleb had his 4 month doctor's appointment yesterday morning. Can you believe he is already 4 months old?? I can't. What a big boy he is. He weighs 15 lbs 8 ounces, and is 25.5 inches long. Everything looked good and he's now graduated to only going to the doctor every 2 months, so his next check up isn't until right before Christmas. He got more shots yesterday which he wasn't too happy about. Although it's nice at this point that he has no idea what's coming, and he only cries for a few minutes afterwards. There were lots of kids at the office yesterday getting flu shots and some of them were crying long before they actually got the shot. Caleb had some sort of localized reaction to one of his vaccines and it made his little leg turn red and a little swollen right where he got the shot, so he's been getting Tylonal and the doctor said to put an ice pack on it. But I don't think its bothering him so I'm going to hold off on that unless I think it's bothering him. At this point I think he'd mind the freezing ice pack more than the actual soreness.

In other news, Caleb's first cousin was born this morning. It's a little boy and they are exactly 4 months apart. I'm sure they will have lots of fun playing together when they get bigger.

And now for the real reason for this post... what I love about Caleb at 4 months old.

*He is so much fun! His personality is really starting to develop.

*He is so happy, almost all the time.

*He is still fairly easy to entertain.

*He is sleeping 8 hours straight at night... most of the time.

*His little cheeks are so chubby and cute.

*He still loves to snuggle.

*He laughed for the first time this month.

*He's an expert roller.

*He gets excited to see his daddy in the afternoon.

*He loves watching football with daddy.

*He enjoys going on walks in his stroller.

*He is such a good baby, easy, happy, and very laid-back.

I can't believe he's already 4 months old. When people told me it would go by quickly, they weren't kidding!!

Now, I know I promised some pictures of Caleb in his baptism gown...well, legally, I can't post them on here because they were taken by a professional, but you can go here and scroll down just a little bit and you'll see Clowers Baby. Click on that and you can watch a slide show of the pictures we had taken of him a few weeks ago.

What I love about Caleb at 3 months old

Can it really be? Has it really been 3 months since our little man was born? I can't believe how quickly the time goes by and I know it's just going to keep moving faster and faster. "He'll be playing t-ball tomorrow," is something I've heard several times in the last few months, and I'm beginning to think it's true. He will be playing t-ball tomorrow, or at least that's how it seems.

When we found out I was pregnant (it seems like that was just a few days ago) I never imagined that God would bless us with such a sweet little boy. He is such a joy to be around.

Always smiling and happy
.

Ok, maybe not always.

He's laid back and easy going (he gets that from his dad) and happy to just hang out around the house with mama and daddy. He sleeps great, taking up to 4 naps a day and sleeping from about 8:30pm until 8:30am (eating twice, pretty much in his sleep, once around 10:30pm and once between 2 and 5am). He loves his baths, his bouncy seat, reading books, singing songs, and as of late, watching football with daddy. I know, I know... you're thinking, "watching football? he's 3 months old, how can he watch football?" But he does. If football is on the TV and he's in the room, he's watching it. I think it's all the movement and colors that grabs his attention, but according to Charles, he's just a huge fan of the game.

What do I love about Caleb at 3 months old?

*He knows his mama and daddy, I mean really knows us, and smiles and talks to us more than to anyone else.

*It's so easy to make him smile ... the littlest things make him happy (like a silly noise from daddy or a song from mama)

*He is awake longer during the day and his naps are shorter (which is fun, for now). I'm sure I'll be wishing for long naps again soon.

*He is still so snuggly. He really loves to snuggle and rock before he goes to sleep.

*It's so fun to watch him observe the world around him and take in new things.

*His chubby legs, and his double chin ... so cute :)

*His big blue eyes (I wonder if they'll stay that color)

Accomplishments and New Skills

*He can hold up his head and chest when laying (or is it lying ... I never know) on his tummy.

*He can roll over from his tummy to his back.

*He can support alot of weight on his legs if you help him stand.

*He talks, and talks, and talks.

It has been a wonderful 3 months! I love being Caleb's mama and I know that Charles loves being his daddy.

Happy 3 months little man!!!

btw: he now weighs 14lbs. 5 oz. and is 24.5 inches

What I love about Caleb at 2 months old

*He's sleeping better and better at night.

*He's on a good routine, which makes going through the day so much easier.

*He's a smiley little thing. He smiles all the time.

*He "talks" to us and to his toys.

*He thinks daddy's funny sounds are funny, and always smiles at them.

*He is old enough to take out with me, but still small enough to be easy to take places.

*He is still easily entertained ... by anything ... a picture, a shadow, a stuffed animal or a face.

*He likes taking his baths.

*He recognizes me and Charles, and is happiest with us. (and his Aunt Rachel, of course)

*He focuses on things better, and can spend a long time just looking at me.

*He likes to go on walks in his stroller.

*He doesn't mind riding in his carseat anymore, even for a long drive.

*He is getting bigger, but he still loves to snuggle up when I hold him.

*He's got big dark blue eyes that I think are just adorable.

*He has a dimple on one side when he smiles.

*He looks like his daddy when he smiles.

What I love about Caleb at 1 month old

*He still sleeps alot, but when he is awake he's much more alert.

*He is content to sit and look at you, no need for toys or entertainment. A face is all he needs.

*He is beginning to recognize my face instead of just my voice.

*He is getting faster at eating, which means more time for other things.

*He has started making cooing sounds.

*He can sleep anywhere and sleep peacefully.

*He can lift up his head and look around, if you talk to him he looks around to find you.

*He is absolutely adorable when he sleeps.

*He's not big enough to get dirty and need a bath every day.

*He is so cuddly. Holding him is so much fun.

*He has the cutest little feet.

*He looks like his daddy.

Basically I love everything about him and can't wait to continue watching him grow.
