Let's Play Catch Up

Ok, I know it has been SO long since I've written anything on this blog.  So let's play catch up.

Caleb.  What can I say about this sweet boy?  He is now 16 months old and getting so big.  He's very fast and getting into everything these days.  His new favorite things are his boots and ketchup.  When he goes to get his shoes in the morning, he always picks his rubber rain boots.  Sometimes he brings them to me while he's still in his pajamas and insists on putting them on.  The boy loves his boots.  And ketchup.  He will eat ketchup on anything, and if he has eaten all of his food, he'll use his fingers and eat just plain ole' ketchup.  Sound tasty?

Yea, I didn't think so.

Ethan.  Also getting so big.  I'm 30 weeks pregnant now.  Time has flown, and we have so much do to before he gets here.  Things have been going smoothly, which is always nice.  I did fail my gestational diabetes screening and had to go back for a 3 hour screening, but my blood sugar levels were fine so no problems there.

Charles.  He's been out of town alot lately.  A few fun, and alot of business trips all happened to fall into the same 6 week period this year.  He's still got 2 or 3 more before things settle down, but at least he's getting them all out of the way before all the busyness of the holidays begins.  We're also gearing up for a new business venture that will be starting at the beginning of the year, but more on that later.

And the last "new" thing to catch you up on.  I'm now using cloth diapers most of the time.  I know some, if not all, of you just read that and thought "oh gosh, she has lost her mind".  But it's something I considered before Caleb was born, just never got around to it.  And now that we have Ethan coming, and will have 2 in diapers, it seemed like the wisest choice for us.  You'd be amazed at all the different choices there are out there concerning cloth diapers ... it's not all cloth and pins anymore.  And it'll end up saving us alot of money, which is always a good thing in my book.  I'll write another post on the topic at some point and explain a bit more for those that might be interested.

That's all the catching up I have time for, for now.  But I'll try to get back into the swing of things.  I have lots to share.  Trips to the pumpkin patch, our thoughts on Halloween, and getting the house ready for 2 little ones under the age of 2, to name a few.

Enjoying the great outdoors

Well, I'm 22 weeks pregnant today, so over halfway there.  And we have decided on a name for this little guy.

His name is Ethan Charles.

We wanted to use another biblical name, like Caleb, for this little one, and to be honest ... I had no idea that there was an Ethan in the bible.  But my husband suggested it, and told me where to find him.  Psalm 89.

Things are still going well.  This pregnancy has been easy so far and hopefully will stay that way.

Little man is all over the place.  Growing bigger and learning new things every day.  He now says "yea" in response to everything, and is walking all over the place. He still loves reading books, and playing with anything that has buttons.  He's figured out how to turn the TV on and off, which he thinks is lots of fun.

I'll leave you with a few recent pictures of the little man.  And I'll try to update on here more often than I have been.

We spent some time outside the other day enjoying the beautiful weather.

Looking at leaves.

Tasting leaves.

Finding magnolia seeds under the big tree in the front yard.

Studying those seeds.

Showing mama what you found.

And then tossing them when you're done.

We're really looking forward to fall around here.

It's a .....

My appointment went great and baby was very cooperative.  It took all of about 2 seconds to see that he is definitely ALL boy!!

We would have been thrilled with a girl too, but I'm so excited that Caleb will have a baby brother.

Now comes the hard part ... thinking of a name.

I'll try to get Charles to scan some pictures at the office so maybe in the next few days you can actually see our baby boy.

The Big Day

Tomorrow I have my big ultrasound, and I am so excited.

Boy or girl?  What do you think?

I'll answer that question and tell all about it at some point tomorrow afternoon or evening.

It's going by so quickly

This pregnancy has gone by so quickly for me.  I have a hard time believing I'm already halfway there.  I am 19 weeks and 5 days pregnant today.  And in less than a week we will find out if this little one is a boy or girl.

I get asked alot whether I want a boy or girl this time, and to be honest, I thought I'd have more of a preference one way or the other.  I remember thinking, when I was pregnant with Caleb,  that it didn't matter at all whether he was a boy or girl, I'd be perfectly happy with either.  But I expected to have a preference this time, I mean I already have a boy, so do I want a girl??  Or do I want Caleb to have a little brother, just 18 months younger, to play with??  And is answer is ... yes! A girl would be wonderful.  I'd get to do all the little girl things I didn't get to do with Caleb, I'd get to buy lots of pink, there would be 2 boys and 2 girls in our family.  And on the other hand ... yes ... I would love Caleb to have a little brother to play with, to be best friends with.

I love being Caleb's mama, the mama to a little boy.  And I am so excited to be the mama to another little one, whether it be a boy or a girl.  We will be thrilled either way.

And I'm just hoping that the second half of my pregnancy goes by as quickly as the first half has.

Pregnancy Update

Everything is still going well with this pregnancy.  Morning sickness (all-day sickness, whatever) is finally coming to an end.  It did last longer this time, by about 3 weeks, so maybe that's an indication that this one might be a girl.  Who knows.  We'd be perfectly fine with a boy or a girl.

I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and got to hear the heartbeat, which was great.  I hadn't heard it since my ultrasound 6 weeks ago, so it was nice to be able to hear that little heart beating away.  I'm having a few issues with my blood pressure, I had the same issues when I was pregnant with Caleb, but it's not anything that causes concern, so I'm not worried about it.  Basically, I HATE going to the doctor, something about it just makes me nervous, so my BP is almost always high when they check it.  I take it regularly at home and promise them it is always normal or below normal at home, but they don't like seeing it high at every appointment.  But there's really not much they can do about that.  Oh well.

I'm more tired with this pregnancy than with the last, but that might just be because I'm chasing a 1 year old around all day.  And add to that the fact that I am such a night owl, and have a hard time going to bed before 11 or 12, but the little man has no problem waking me up at 6:30 or 7, at least a few times a week. So I'm tired.  But the little man still takes great naps, so I try and catch up on a little sleep when he's napping.

I go back to the doctor in 3 weeks (because we'll be out of town in 4 weeks, which is when I would normally go back) and then at my next appointment, once we're back in town, I should have my 20 week ultrasound and we can find out whether this little one is a boy or girl.  I can't wait to know!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

New Design

The blog has a new look.  I was tired of the way it was looking, plus I just enjoy that sort of thing, so I changed it up a bit.  It's still a work in progress.  I need to come up with a new title for this blog, because "and little man makes three" isn't going to work for too much longer, so for now I just have a temporary title at the top of the page, until we come up with something new.

Any suggestions?  If you have one just leave it in the comments.  I want to keep the same sort of idea, but I'll need to include the little man and baby #2.  It might be easier once we find out if this little one is a boy or girl, which will be the end of August, for those interested.  In the meantime, I'll just stick with what I have.

We've got some news ...

That's right, Caleb is going to be a big brother sometime near the beginning of January. We're super excited and I just know Caleb is going to be a great big brother.
